World Diabetes Day raises global awareness of diabetes – its escalating rates around the world and how to prevent the illness in most cases. Started by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and WHO, the Day is celebrated on 14 November to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, was instrumental in the discovery of insulin in 1922, a life-saving treatment for diabetes patients.
World Health Organization estimates that more than 346 million people worldwide have diabetes. This number is likely to more than double by 2030 without intervention. Almost 80% of diabetes deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. According to the map below, the Middle-East is expected to fall into third place as the highest in the world by 2030. Let’s raise our hands, take action, and prevent this from happening. Want to participate in making a change? Support a cause and make your donations at Dasman Diabetes Institute.

Once a year, NUKS (National Union of Kuwait Students) host a students conference in different states. The 29th conference of this year will be held in Washington, DC on November 22nd-25th. As part of the entertainment, they will be presenting a Stand Up Comedy show by Ahmed Ahmed, Max Amini, Fadi AlShehri, and Huda Marafi. (I’m already a HUGE fan of Ahmed Ahmed, hilarious and extremely talented on stage and in Hollywood I must add!)

H&M have done it once again! They’ve collaborated with Maison Martin Margiela. The pieces are all very typical avant-garde, but casual at the same time. Oversized, deconstructed styling, and funky accessories (loved the candy wrapper clutch! Genius!) is what their brining here. And guess what? The entire collection has finally been revealed. The launch will take place at the H&M Grand Avenue and Marina Mall at 8 am this Thursday! Here are a few pieces that interested me:

I’ve always been taken by fireworks, I dont know what it is about them but the colors and the lights… totally majestic! It mesmerizes me, I was on a high till early in the morning, trying to sleep but I just couldn’t seem to be able to! I’ve seen my share of amazing firework shows, but yesterday was really worthy of a Guinness Book record.

I loved the little chinese swirls (thats what I’m calling them), and the flying dove! Aaaah beautiful! I do believe that the amount spent on the show was just ridiculous, but it was a once in a life time kind of event, and I’m sure everyone who witnessed it whether at home, on TV, on the balcony of some building, or somewhere on Gulf Road; it’ll be a night to remember!

Chapeau to everyone who participated in making the event come true, and to all the Kuwaiti youth who volunteered their time to help organize last nights event.

Can we agree that we’ve all been to Avenues Phase III? Ok, good. But not all of us have seen it all, and I was lucky enough to be one of the few to get a sneak peek! Hop on the magic carpet, and let me take you on a virtual tour to Prestige, Soku, AlSouk, and the Mall.
Prestige: Kind of self-explanatory, but it’s where you’ll find all the high-end stores, planned to open first week of December. Girls, this is probably where we’ll be finding you shopping..or camping ? *She said Ye, Can we get married at the maaaaaall? You need to show me why you deserve to have it aaaalll*

Moving on…
AlSouk: Old is gold, which is what you’ll find here! Let the pictures speak for themselves for now..(I thought the detailing was out of this world..Doesn’t it look like a Hollywood Arabian themed movie set??)

Taking a step back to the future and into Soku, where you’ll find a New-York/London Town themed area. LOVED this! We won’t be needing to leave Kuwait to see London…perhaps? Maybe not.

And to wrap it all up, here’s the last part of The Mall, which we’ll be seeing more of on Monday!

And that’s a wrap! Share your thoughts..Which is your favorite part?!

You’ve probably heard a lot of buzz about this, but never heard of the details!
Here’s the breakdown: 400 Kuwaiti kids were chosen for soccer training with Kuwaiti trainers. 50 were chosen to continue training at Manchester United Academy in Abu Dhabi. Amazing? Is an understatement.
