AHHHH what a wonderful occasion, everything coming well together for a beautiful cause.

I have seen the news clip yesterday and thought I have got to have this on the blog, I just have to, its a must. The whole house was up and running, buzzing on how great the idea was, how young and how beautifully they spoke infront of Baba Sabah. Beautiful, Just beautiful. I love how they defined themselves on twitter:

Proteges generation one, beat there mentors and brought ALSARIYA to KUWAIT. Read on:

August 25, 2010. The date of “The Big Meeting”

The day started out with the team members heading to Souq Sharq, their meeting point at 11:15am. A few minutes later, as their cars filled with enthusiasm, the members started heading towards AlSeef Palace. Around 11:30am, the cars slowly pulled up to Diwan AlAmeeri and one by one, each team member entered the building. AlSariyah’s team members were greeted at the door and were kindly lead towards the waiting room.

The excited members anxiously awaited their turn. Soon enough, the time of “The Big Meeting” has approached. One by one, the team members entered the meeting area, and one by one, they shook hands and greeted his highness, Sheikh Sabah AlAhmed AlSabah. As the last team member, Dana AlGhanim greated His Highness, she presented him with a gift that consisted of an enlarged and colored photograph of the Sheikh as a young man. The beating hearts calmed down as they absorbed the comfortable vibe. As soon as everyone took their place, Mohammed AlMunaikh stood up to briefly explain who are AlSariyah’s team members, and why are they here today.

Mohammed AlMunaikh then presented a short video on the iPad, as a brief introduction to AlSariyah…the video that sparked a tiny spark in each members heart..the moment that edged the birth of AlSariyah, the moment that will not only spark, but now, light a fire. Sharifa AlSuliety and Mariam AlOmani then got up and presented AlSariyah as an idea, as a vision, and soon as a making. After the 10 minute presentation, that started with Sharifa and ended with Mariam thanking His Highness for the please of the meeting and his time.

Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad AlSabah said, “I wish the whole of Kuwait would hear you now” His Highness continued his speech as his smile echoed warmth into each members heart.

The meeting concluded with high hopes being more than satisfied. Each member kindly shook His Highness’s warm hands goodbye. AlSariyah’s team members left with smiles that lasted the whole day.

“The meeting was a unique and excellent opportunity for us to meet our Amir Sheikh Sabah. We are so thankful that he has been able to dedicate part of his time for us, although he has a very busy schedule. This shows us how much we are blessed to have a strong voice. We were so charged with energy and enthusiastic to talk to him and to have him guide our path with his words.
The Amir boosted our energy, and gave our motive and extra push inorder for us to finish our project. We were smiling the whole day afterwards. He was so kind, and his comments encouraged us. The Amir was very modest as he heard every word and nodded to every point being made at the meeting. We were so lucky to have such a great opportunity.”

I’v made a post previously about BuQutada & Bo Nabeel criticizing P2BK’s event video. By then I found it funny and dedicated it to my friend, specifically the Jonsoon and Jonsoon part.

My friends asked me to remove it, stop the bleed and over all hallucination in the country. I did. However its back here again with an official statement from me to yall.

Trust me, what I type here is not going anywhere, however, a clarification is due.

Let me just break this down for yall:

Comedic Value:

The kind of comedy im exposed to is on the level of people like Wanda Sykes, Margaret Cho, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy. Its way high up there, raw and has lots of unnecessary details, but you know what ? I laugh like a maniac whenever I pop their DVDs. Now if you are familiar with these people you’d understand that the episode seen on Al-Watan TV is mild in comparison. Then again, some points were just outta line and plain unnecessary according to culture and overall exposure.

My Experience:

I said this before, I’ll say it again, I was, am and will always be a proud member of P2BK. I was a media coordinator there and had a blast with everyone, including the founder. I had one of the most memorable time ever by then. I even debuted the first ever LIVE Video broadcast held on a local blog. Even had a great time with the creative team working behind the scenes. AWESOME !

What I didnt like:

I usually do not highlight what I dont like. You guys know me. However, I must say that:

- Highlighting female participates as slutty and boy toy seekers was not pleasant. Most boys participiting were semi-sissy in a way or another.

- Two highlighted business were shown as copy paste masters. Not really creative.

- Nabeel Being a thief. Uncalled for.

P2BK & 52 Degrees Feud:

As I understood, there is this feud going on out there between two respected entities.

I understood that some are pointing towards 52 degrees, being the reason behind that particular episode.

P2BK & 52 Degrees, in my heart, I hope that everybody means well although its not evident in some spots.

What I want to say is that I love you all regardless of whats going on. What you hold against eachother/if any is up to you.

I don’t know what the details are and I don’t want to investigate any further. It is completely none of my business.

Was in a big big big supermarket, overheard two girls putting final touches on their BOY TOY//come rescue me/plan.

Anyway, so baby girl did the whole ” hold me, im dizzy, not feeling well, not even a proper “ta3bana” she went “ti3boNa”, cant breath, fell on the ground”

3 pm.

Boy saw her, did nothing. Went back to where he came from.

By then, I had a toothbrush, a big broom “for shalaih” and shampoo. Only I knew what I wanted to do with’em.

She quickly, came back up, as if no-thing happened. Her friend ? no, we wont go there.

Funny part ?

When I went ahead to pay up, she was on the isle next to me, the boy showed up and said “ashoof ma feech shay al7een?”

Her reply ? “chub, i7muur” giggling.

Girl ? What were you thinkin – A man with a ring ? for real ?

My little niece, the little Namla, the one and only Queen, my queen, celebrated her first ever Gergai3an, she was excited and over the moon.

I love how she freaked out when everyone started, singing, clapping, bit of “Yebaab”, money and candy in the air, her eyes said it all.

Her mum, my sis, thought of going with a Moroccan theme and see how it goes, I think the “6aajin” boxes looked great, I think people could use’em later if they like.

I made a post back in June 2009, about the cookie bag’s Cookie trifle, I fell in love with it, so did most of you guys.

In my previous post, the plastic box was HUGE, I remember how my sister kept saying, if only they could make it smaller.

They did, me, my mouth, tongue and tummy loved it so did the whole house.

Mini Trifles

This creation must be served cold. Leave it in the fridge, not the freezer, treat it like Yogurt if you like, yes ?

So what were the flavors ?

- Raspberry. A bit heavy for those of you who like it a bit creamy light.

- Mango.

- Kanafa/Kunafa.

- Chocolate.

What’s it like ?

Just like I said like last time, lemme quote ME, HAH!

“I blended the spoon through it, had different layers of thick, thin & soft clusters. In that pool of blissful fantasies, I came across an oh so profound un-identified cluster for a mere man. A multilevel of chocolate, cream, cookie chips & brownies. My first spoon was just simply delightful.

Not heavy at all, yet yummy to the fullest. Indulge. Just dip in, smile and have another spoon”

This is exactly how I felt this time, however, this time, the size is way smaller with more and more flavors.

Favorites

I loved them all. All but maybe my least fav was the raspberry mix, maybe because I like it a bit lighter, my brother loved it though, so you know, to all his own.

Truffles

This mini mix is nice too, its too small you may want to have it with coffee or tea on the side.

However, this is dangerous if you leave it by the TV. You will slowly but surely consume it.

I mentioned earlier that I and F.K.E were at the fabolous USHUAIA.

After tanning, while we were having lunch, we left some small pieces of bread here and there/Crumbs. Then this pretty big birdy/Seagull jumped in – ate everything.

Ofcourse the seagull’s presence was an eye pleaser for everybody. They wanted to pass by snap some pics and Yada yada yada/Bla Bla Bla.

The kind people over at Dolce Antico, Mr.Abdulaziz Al-Anjiri and his partner Mr.Khalid Al-Khalid, sent me a big wonderful choco choco package that has most flavors ever to exist on a piece of chocolate imaginable.

Let me just go through the package with you guys:

Since I am a big sugar sugar ant, I fell in love with the big chocolate bars. Brought a glass of milk, big heavy sheets, Anime cartoons back to back and chocolate. That mix was super !

Some of you may like things with biscuits, caramel, coffee, pistachio, nuts, milk, honey, pepper, yes even pepper !

Over at Dolce Antico, they deal with different companies, some go back to 1826 and some hit 1959, in comparison, thats considerably NEW. HAH!

Things I liked :

- How small and full of flavor the chocolate was.

- Very light. Weight and taste.

- I loved how every piece of chocolate was wrapped separately. Very Italian.

They call this, a kiss of a lady, aaaah those zexy italians, and well, I kissed her, twice. One of the best pieces I received.

Oh and the biscuits smelled like MILAN !

As I understood, popular chocolate nowadays that consist of biscuits and chocolate in between like OREO, was inspired by this original piece. WOW !

Special:

The store provides extremely exquisite pieces of chocolate that are available only if ordered a while earlier. You may want a special wrapping here and there, but special chocolate shipped from Italy straight to your guests mouths is rather posh with a hint of extravaganza. Yes ?

Its been 2 good years since I have slowly installed ideas in my head that speak of two major principles:

- None judgement.

- Total acceptance.

These two concepts are built with “respect” being the cloud that holds them together.

*Silence*

I learned recently that there is a group of people out there EATING/DRINKING in broad daylight, infront of everyone, some even tweet about it. Now, in Ramadan.

In Kuwaiti pop culture, we call these peeps “كلاب رمضان”

“Whats uglier than a sin is owning it, bragging about it infront of everybody” I have never fully understood the concept behind the prophet Mohammed message till now.

Everybody is asking for the society’s acceptance when really society did accept you but you chose to live in a jungle. You refuse to be human. You want to be a four legged creature, you insist to be a creature that yearns for bananas and peanuts. You claim you are free spirited and uncaged, yes, we get that, but when you come out from the jungle, live in nice houses, just like dogs and cats, there are things you should do/things you avoid doing to reach the master’s approval for you to stay in the house.

You are not in a jungle anymore.

You know that, you understand that, you see a poor man standing under the sun, underpaid, over worked, exhausted, all he could ask for is a sip of water. You just came out of your house, pampered as ever, at ease, thinking bout the next best thing to do, THEN, you see him and what do you do ? slowly drink water, with your eyes fixed on that poor soul, knowing that he is watching you.

Suppose you inhibit a filthy, ungrateful heart. Dont you have a place for mercy or compassion ?

Why ? – Knowing that you are intellectually capable of shutting yourselves up and maybe, just maybe act like humans sometimes ?

You may not know this, but the devil, lucifer himself, was an abducted prisoner of war before humans ruled this temporary earth. He was a good and faithful slave to GOD, till the famous story came across. Even lucifer was, the personality blamed for everything dark, evil and gloomy, was, at least good, once upon a time.

A jew was granted GOD’s forgiveness and mercy, was even promised to be in heaven, for scolding his child verbally when he was eating/drinking in broad daylight infront of muslims. This happened when the light on earth, Mohammed, was alive.

Why cant you be like that Jew ? – Why do you CHOOSE to be disregarded, down graded here on earth // cursed in your grave with GOD knows what kind of temporary hell you’ll be in // finally dragged to hell for eternity ?

Why my dear ?

You dont believe in GOD ? Thats fine, I respect that.
You dont believe in the afterlife/judgement day ? Fine, I respect that.

What about now ? Why do you choose to dis-respect us ? We are Kuwaiti citizens just like you. We are your neighbours, friends and some of us are family, do you dislike us that bad ?

Why do you represent yourselves well when travel abroad ? You know all the rules, the ins and outs to each and everything, because you are smart. Not only that, but YOU WANT THEIR APPROVAL. However you choose not to respect your fellow Kuwaiti brothers and sisters, even strangers, no one actually. That, my dear, is a choice, not a smart one.

I can go on and on.

I know exactly what is going on in your lovely brain cells.

I love this story:

“My christian friend was fasting, he was only having vegetables and juices, no meat or chicken, so I helped him cook a nice menu for him and his whole family. When Ramdan came upon us, he was so kind and prepared a big portion of soup for me to use for up till 3 days, it was that big, it tasted wonderful. Problem is I had it for breakfast and lunch.

When he knew I consumed the whole bowl in one day, he asked if I didnt like it or just threw it out, I said NO and explained that I CHOSE not to fast, I understand why im supposed to fast, I believe in GOD but I just dont want to fast, its not doable.

He was upset and confused, left the house”

Baby what were you thinking ? Ofcourse, he’ll leave, to him you are a hypocrite. If this is how you treat your creator, how will you treat the created ?

Conclusion

We all have the need to feel special, to be looked at, taken care of, HOWEVER, grabbing people’s attention to you by downgrading their religion, spiritual beliefs and culture is not at all admirable.

There is nothing wrong with being you, who and whatever you think you are as long as you respect everybody else. Look up the definition of Freedom if you like.

I am a person who looks for love, joy and beauty in everything. I failed this time.

This time I am glad I failed, I want nothing to do with this. GOD, his angels and everybody who’s reading this are my witness.

Now, as for those who know about this phenomenon with their mouths shut, know that your are a dysfunctional extra/silenced devil. You have witnessed this mess and said/acted/showed no-concerns what so ever. You are responsible now and later on infront of his holly grace.

Lord forgive us, I beg you to wake the unawakened
Forgive them, for they know not what they do

Everybody kept nagging me to go and give it a shot.

I understand that there has been a food tasting event while I was out of the country, I could not make it or was invited, however, my friends were and they loved it.

I decided to ask the owners to give it a go, they were kind enough to invite me and my friends to crash in and enjoy the whole Open Flame Kitchen experience.

Its no secret that this is the place to be, the IT location/HAWT spot for all you trendy kings and queens out there.

You may know how I like to categorize things and put everything nicely together.

Beware, this is a long review, try to indulge boys and girls, go on, CLICK CLICK !

*HEAVY POST – PLEASE BE PATIENT*

Atmosphere

Dark, gloomy, high energy and “lets get lost” Zexy. Thats how the atmosphere was. The moment you step in, your completely transformed to a low key/modern/supersonic/5th Avenue/Newyork state of mind. You are not in the land of dust and heat no more.

After the long long waiting list of people pushing/shoving and hollering for a HAWT seat in the house, if you’re lucky to get in, you’ll be escorted to your table by a beautiful indian woman who I forgot what her name was in the mist of darkness and soulful music.

Shattered glass/Spot lights/Gold/Leather and dark wood, thats the theme, very royal, moodern royal infact with a hint of Zexiness seeing that red lights reflect on tables and bottles of water all over the place. Mellow, very mellow and laid back. ADORE!

Dress Code

There are no dress codes here, however, the place is so IN you see people so HAWT as if they came out of magazines. Running Running out of magazines. No need to play Beyonce’s “Freakum Dress”  cuz everybody is freaking it like crazy.

The girls were very Harajuku/Tokyo/Dolls/bout to scream “FAST AND FURIAAAAAAAAS”/HAWT you can not take your eyes off of them. Its not about them being cute, its that energy you feel, like they’r Bees, waiting to enter a honey cell, you hear them buzzing/murmuring/whispering to each other with a “YES im looking at you, thats why we all ARE here” gaze.

Poor boys, most of them look high as if they were on ecstasy/drugs/weed, their mouths wide open with eye popping on whatever is walking. No wonder why accidents/dog fights/808s and heartaches kiss them in the face. Its the HAWT girl affect, isn’t it ? *snap*

I wont get into lots of details here, you have to come and see for yourselves, those who’v been there know exactly what im talking about.

Interior Details

I adore the details of the place so much that I took pics of each and everything I liked separately.

Roller Coaster

Love the combination, POSH.

Wonderful contrast.

Smaller oven, beautiful, just beautiful.

Big, red and mighty bottles of water.

Notice how each table has a direct spotlight going straight to it, no-where-else, SMART !

Everytime I see that big shiny creation, I felt like singing Black & Gold.

Food

Starters

This was our Ghabga, this is definitely the HAWTest ghabga I had in years.

We were four people, so there was a tummy pleaser for each and everyone of us.

We did not utter a word on what we wanted to eat, I loved that, I enjoyed being pampered without talking, as you can see, we had:

- Southern Fried Fish Popcorn.

- Tempura.

- Mozzarella Crunch.

- Chicken Liver.

- Grilled Bruschgtta.

- Tokyo Salad.

Loved the sea food selection, nothing smelly or fish like, it tasted like chicken. Tokyo Salad was a diamond in the rough till it landed in our mouths, BLING BLING – HIT !

Main Dishes

The pizza reminded me of a lovely pizza joint in Switzerland – Montana, they serve the lightest pizza I’v tasted ever. This baby was even better cuz it melts melts melts real quick. It didn’t even feel like pizza. Thats a huge compliment.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi

This is where the OOOH AAAH begins, this dish makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. It makes you smile.

The sauce was just right, cooked beautifully, herbs and spices marinated well, mixed with an excellent temperature. Soul pleaser.

This dish heals. Thats all I can say.

LOW CARB PERFECTION

These two dishes were just perfect.

Juicy, very very very juicy, creamy tender, you can tear it apart with your bare hands easily.

Protein options without the fear of it being breaded, fried or mixed with weird stuff. Raw full fledge meat and chicken. Served just for you hard core low carbers. If you ditch the potato, you’ll consume Zero gram of carbs for sure. Great !

Feeling Adventurous ?

Green Curry Osso Bucco

This is one of these dishes you have to try to believe it actually exists.

Rice with Coconut milk, green curry with “bone hole” meat. Very tender, like baby lamb. This is believed to be a milanese origin dish. Its completley new, very different, try it !

Wild Fire Burger

Now you listen to me, listen to me very well, IF YOU DO NOT ORDER THIS BURGER – I’LL COME OUT OF THE MENU – SLAP YOU IN THE FACE 10 TIMES then shred you to pieces, ya heard ??

We asked for this dish to be served twice/2 times/X2 – thats how much we loved it !

I gave birth while eating it ! Yes I did  and we all felt as zexy as this

The bun is as soft as McDonald’s fish fillet, however its mixed with Jalapeno, AAAAAAH !!

The patty is just divine. I saw the onion and thought it may be a but crunchy or nasty, it was soft soft soft, EDIBLE EDIBLE EDIBLE !

Dont be fooled, it may look like a normal burger, its not, its not, its NOOOOOOOT !!

Date Cheese Cake

Chocolate Brownie Pudding

Marble Creme Brulee (ON FAYAAAH)

All the desserts were great, to all his own since we were 4. For instance I loved the Date pudding like crazy, while the others went KOKO wild on the other dishes. Some were fighting over the brownie, those skinny bastards!

OVER ALL

The food was wonderfully put together with lots and lots of details and huge attention to what and how things were served. Sometime, variety ruins the core of how a restaurant represents itself. With O.F.K, thats not the case at all, specially when you have Slider Station and Burger Boutique under your belt as two of the most celebrated food joints in the country. Adventurous, different, spankin fresh and exquisite is just a glimpse of what you’ll experience.

V.I.P Table

This is where we had our food and eye candy fix.

I was told that there is this really beautiful/down low/V.I.P cave somewhere in this joint. I asked the owners to let me sit in it, I did and let me tell you, everybody that passes by wants to know who’s in there, HAH! Curious Kuwaitis are fun, you see them, they dont see you.

I loved everything about this place, try to look at the tables, wavy, round and strange. When you try them out, you’ll see how functional they are.

I wonder who’ll be sitting here in new year’s eve, I wonder I wonder. *wink*

Future Seating Area

When winter hits your beautiful faces soon, you’ll be able to sit and enjoy the semi-beautiful breeze outside.

Staff

Look who I found ?? Its MAMA from Slider station ! Thats what they call her, Mama. I used to always send her notes saying thank you and I love your cooking, now I actually went ahead and shook hands with her, we love you MAMA!

Ofcourse, Mr.Villaz, Rahoul and the chef were beyond amazing, thank you for the super kind hospitality, you were just beautiful.

A big thank you to the wonderful Dalal for the warm and kind welcome, letting us in before anyone could, the tour, the food, VIP table and treatment, the experience and the whole nine yards. You, my dear, are awesome !

One last thing

Some places make businesses around it boom, B+F Open Flame Kitchen is one of them, don’t believe me ? look at what happens to the shops surrounding it, people hit those spots to sit and wait till they get a table in instead of waiting in line. Money maker money maker make me happy, HAH!

Interviews are back, had a nice break from hosting’em since you lovelies been out and about on vacation galore.

Back in january 2010, Mohammed Al-Dhubaib & his cousin invited me to sink my teeth in their sicilian cuisine creation, Melenzane. I did, I reviewed it and the crowd went WAW.

However, due to construction delays surrounding the restaurant, all they could offer was a low key, call before you come, welcome. Trust that the owners wanted everyone to rush in, have a great time and just enjoy the atmosphere that screamed “escapism”.

I’v always seen Mohammed socializing with people I knew from time to time, never had the chance to properly introduce myself. When we met, all it took was 10 minutes, then I felt home. Like I knew the guy from ages. Very open, sincere, down to earth, grounded, super polite and very very funny yet attentive.

I remember while we were sitting, I grabbed Mohammed on the side and I slowly said “so how did all of this come together ?” I was referring to the whole project. He gave me the proud father face and said ” You really wana know ? really ? Its a long story, I don’t want to bore you” I said, shoot, but gimme some sweet sweet dessert and coffee coffee so I can fo focus with you. I was still in a daze after all the eye pleasing, stomach feeding, heart warming servings of excellence we got.

As he was telling the story, I was in shock. The idea of quitting your job, keeping a secret from your family for the longest time, not having a steady income, living in fear, ignoring everyone and everything because you believe in a dream that you may or may not create is beyond what anyone can bare. I was in shock and you, dear readers, wont understand why until you read about it below. I don’t want to spoil the fun but i’ll say this as a direct message to Mohammed :

“I am so proud of you, your story is full of courage, commitment and clarity, you did what most men claim they can but didn’t – keep your head high, you have my full support, love and appreciation.”

Lots of things were said, I prefer you read them from Mohammed directly.

Mohammed, Speak up !
Well, first of all, I am Mohammed Jasim Al Dhubaib, 26 years young. My major interests are cooking, reading, traveling, watching movies, and visiting new places.

Childhood flashes ?
As a result of being the youngest in the family, I did not have an active and a vigorous childhood. Therefore, I was the calm one and the closest one to my mother. Also, my brothers were my role models and I looked up to them.

What inspired you to tap into who you are now  ?
My parents, without them I am sure I would not have been the person I am today. Also, have the characteristics of a hard worker and a dreamer pushed me to do the best I can do.

Ofcourse I had an interest in cooking ever since I was young, I remember how I used to ask the people working with us at home to cut onions, tomato, mushrooms, green peppers, then barge in, mix them up, cook eggs my way, put them together nicely in a presentable way, knowing that no one will see them but me, still, it had to look good. I thought I had it in me ever since.

What differs you from the rest of the competition out there?
We represent a Sicilian restaurant specialized in an Italian cuisine, what makes us different is the way we create our food, we cook and create every dish with our atmost attention, minds, heart and passion, thats always the reason that drives everything to be unique and at Melenzane you will notice that.

I think the interior design of the place has played a big role to differentiate us from other competitors the twisted upside down world that was designed by the architect Ahmed Albaghli.

What were the difficulties you faced and how did you overcome them ?
In my opinion, the first step you take is usually the hardest step. A lot of people think that leaving a permanent job that provides you stable income and going after a dream that doesn’t exist yet is one of the worst decisions a person could take. But, I’m glad and honored to say that I did it. Of course, at the beginning I struggled on how am I supposed to tell my parents that I quit my job and am willing to run after my dreams. I kept it a secret for a year and 7 months. I used to fake that I was going to work and after that I decided to reveal my secret because it is for my own good. I faced my fears and it turned out to be the best decision I took because they turned out to be my #1 supporters.

The difficulty of not believing in our selves, it took me a long time to overcome this issue but it got solved by people’s love and support.

Its hard to find a team like what we have in Melenzane, we tried our best to create the perfect team at first and complete the Melenzane family, but we made it, now it feels like home to each and every member.

Share with us your big trip abroad, what went down ?
Our trip took 3 years, from 2005 – 2008. We went to paris and sicily a couple of times. In paris we met Nino Trapani, he inspired us and he started working with us. He taught us how to cook from scratch. We had an amazing time with Nino and we benefited a lot from him. We moved from a location to another in Sicily. We learned there alot and it was a great experience.

Later on, we took a brave step and started Melenzane. It was a tough challenge for me.

Whats your support system like ?
I’m happy to say that I got support from so many people and I thank god for that.

First of all I would like to thank my parents, brothers and sister, the whole family, specially My close brother Yousef Al-Dhubaib and my sister in law Bedor Al-Jeri.

One of best Italian restaurants and I have so many plans I hope inshala it all comes true .
