For all of you vegetarians out there, I found a few tofu products in Sultan Center Sharq! Tofu is high in protein and calcium and is well known for its ability to absorb new flavors through spices and marinades, so its PERFECT for vegetarians. You can use it in salads, soups, and stews. It can also be grilled, used in stir fries, and pureed into a dip. The Asian Style Tofu would go well with noodles, I cant wait to try it!

There were also so many cool Japanese products like these panko breadcrumbs, You can panko everything and you know what would be amazing? cheese stuffed panko jalapeno poppers! yum! These mushrooms of different varieties and flavors are so cute! I didn’t know what to choose, so I took one of each to try. If you love Japanese products, go check the Japanese section at Sultan Center, I’m pretty sure you’ll love it!

Last Thursday, November 28-29, was JAMM’s 3rd annual auction at the Contemporary Art Platform in Kuwait. The auction featured over 60 works of art by emerging and established Arab, Iranian and international artists. The Kuwaiti artists represented at the auction included Shurooq Amin, Amira Behbehani, Ghadah Kandari, Fadel Al Abbar, Ebrahim Habib, Abed Al Kadari and Reda Salem. It was exclusively sponsored by TAG Heuer, one of the most desired brands in the luxury watch industry.

The elegant affair was attended by the who’s who of the international art scene. It started with a preview on the 28th of November that showcased the artworks featured in the auction. The set up of the gallery allowed the crowd to admire the beautiful art pieces in a calm, peaceful setting. The auction, on November 29, was conducted by Alexander Gilkes, the former global marketing director and auctioneer for Phillips de Pury and co-founder of Paddle8. As expected, the auction was a huge success totalling over $570,000 in sales. The highest selling lot was Farideh Lashai’s El Amal that sold for $72,000, it was followed by Reza Derakshani’s Garden Party at $70,000.

Sheikha Lulu M Al-Sabah, founder of JAMM commented after the sale: “I was really happy with the turnout this year. There was a lot of enthusiasm and the room was electrifying. Alexander did an incredible job and I look forward to collaborating with Alexander and our sponsors TAG Heuer in future.”

JAMM is an organization that promotes cultural diplomacy. Their mission is to create cultural projects without geographical boundary. They advance Arab and Iranian artists in the West and Western artists in the East, further collaborating the two.
