Review: Ten Spa
Hey you guys, its been a while since i posted anything up on here. I hope 7amad and Fayona are keeping you entertained on the latest news and events from here and there. They’v been doing a great job since October *applause*
yes yes, I missed you and all that crap.
See, I’v been wanting to share an experience at TEN SPA which I had a month back but never had the time to actually sit down and pour all the mess out of my system. I wanted to know why the hype was KOKO, I wanted to know how it looked like and stuff.
I just wanted to try it to shove a “YES I DID TRY TEN” on my friends faces so they wont nag.
Lets push that a side and see if Ten was a 10.
Well, here goes ..
Usually i’d take pictures of the place from A-Z – however my friend, photographer Aziz Al-Suraye did a great job at that so why not share the joy?
Loved the whole feel of the place – for some reason if things are dark, minimal and cozy, I’m satisfied. Thats what I really loved about the place, that minimalistic feel to it. Architecture was evident, from the reception area to the couches to the thin light lines on the ground leading you to your room is just tight. Have a look here:
As a matter of fact, I felt really comfortable, decided to switch the phone to Airplane mode – maybe out of respect ? I don’t know – I just didn’t want to hear a buzz or something that might ruin the vibe of the whole place. Then again, I always switch it to airplane mode, when do I talk on the phone to begin with ? HAH!
Loved the warm tea with honey that calms your nerves before the enjoyment of a well-thought-out massage session.
Massage & the therapist
The room I went to had an all-in-one package thingy going on with it, see it had a bathroom, steam and shower room in one place, which was cool and reminded me of the world’s famous “Six Senses Spa” a huge plus ofcourse, everything was right on point with elements like the furniture, fabrics, quality and brands used. I love these little details.
OH OH and speaking of details, lets talk about music! Thank you for not going all ASIAN MAGANDA on us, thank you for comprehending that massages also happen in european countries where different types of calming music is played. For those who don’t know, there is a genre called New Age, very hard to capture its essence but few can. I loved the choices I heard over there.
One more thing to add about the massage is that that room temperature was great too. I just had to put that out there, usually i’d freeze and ask them to cover me up with warm towels. Not the case at 10, another plus.
The therapist I went with was Mr.Anthony, an italian gentleman. I must say I felt super comfortable just because he reminded me of great therapists I saw and worked with in the Czech republic.
Lets just put it out. Simple, short and to the point. The best massage ever.
Why ? why was it the best? .. Here’s why:
Before I went to have my session, I had to do some paper work to tick out what I liked, what I didnt, what areas needed attention, what to avoid, am I suffering from anything, LA LA LA.
You might say, well, thats not new. Yes Yes, I agree its not.
However, for him to acknowledge every single detail with me in a conversational tone and between random topics before we start the massage made the whole thing feel like a regular/casual conversation, it did add alot of comfort while getting ready, however he was actually working his way to my head to see if he understood what I needed. THATS MARVELOUS.
Another thing that makes him the best is his signature massage that includes hot stones. What I really liked is his multitasking skills, the moment the massage starts, it does not stop or pause until the session ends. There are no pauses (Yeah I had to mention that again). He has excellent transitional skills from one move to the other, even when he brought the stones in, he was massaging an area then out of no where these stones came warmly out of the oven (literally) and were placed gently on my back, near my head.
Additionally, I LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED + never had a therapist that carries my head in a lullaby baby swing while I place my head on warm pillows. WHAT WAS THAT AND WHERE DID IT COME FROM ? is all I kept thinking.
I went there with zero expectations, had nothing in mind, killed all the hype that was dropped on me like “bombs in iraq” from friends and relatives, I just wanted to see for myself what the talk in town was about.
My verdict ? well, … ten is a 10.
As a matter of fact, I’m booking Anthony again, a longer session this time and I suggest you call and book before it gets KOKO tomorrow with bookings from wives to their HUZZZZbands, girlfirends to their boyfriends and all that crap.
Babies, just call, book, enjoy and thank me later. You will thank me. *death stare*
