Yum: Au Bon Pain

A post by Hamad.

The other day I heard a friend talking about a little French café located in Avenues complex so I thought I’d give it a try.

The place is called “Au Bon Pain” which means “the place of good bread”. I learned that the reason why it’s called that is because “Au Bon Pain” is famous with its freshly baked bagels.

So anyway I went there for lunch and started exploring the place and the atmosphere, it’s just a small café around the corner on the first floor in avenues complex, with comfortable couches and small tables, overall the place was rather cozy.

The menu included a variety of things, from smoothies to starters, main dishes and disserts, which all sounded so delicious.

I took a while deciding what to order but at the end I choose the Goat cheese salad, the Arizona chicken sandwich and a strawberry smoothie.

The food was simply great! Vegetables that were used in the salad were fresh and moist, the cheese tasted like it came directly from the cheese farm and the dressing was so rich.

The sandwich was amazing too with the tender grilled chicken, the warm melted cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce and spicy ranch sauce all served on ciabatta bread made it all a light yet satisfying sandwich.  And the smoothie was of course refreshing and tasty.

I wanted to try the bagels and cakes but since I had no room for more food I had to have “part two” of my experience. I went few days after but this time in the morning and grabbed a basket full of bagels and freshly brewed coffee for my friends at work. Every one simply loved it! The bagels fairly had a crisp crust but a very soft center that melts in your mouth, no wonder it’s called “Au Bon Pain” because their bagels sure are very “Bon”!

So overall I think that this little place will satisfy you, whether you want to have a light lunch, enjoy some nice pastry or simply sit back, have a cup of coffee and relax you sure can do all that in “Au Bon Pain”.
