Review: The COCOA Room

The innovative masterminds behind Kuwait’s most successful food joints a la Burger boutique, Slider Station and Open Flame Kitchen invited p0ach to their latest creation, THE COCOA ROOM.

The COCOA Room is an extension to SLIDER STATION, they serve desserts/sweets/chocolaty dishes ALSO Exclusive salty menu – You’ll see the dishes below.

My review has non dessert dishes too – why ? well because these dishes might show up in Slider Station/Burger Boutique or Open Flame Kitchen as NEW NEW NEW items on the menu. However, the desserts are ALL part of THE COCO ROOM. *PSSST – A birdy just told me that the salty dishes you’ll see below are part of the COCOA ROOM exclusively*

I threw that line in just to make sure ya’ll don’t get confused & twisted.

The place was too dark for me to snap pics that pleases you guys – I did my best.

*HEAVY POST – BE PATIENT*

The Atmosphere

Intimate. I don’t care what you think, the place screams intimacy/Closure/Private Talk/Hush down-grab-me-later conversations. Dark, low down, rough edges, throw-me-over-there divan/sofa/settee, candles float on tables, feathers, wood, metal glide by as you reach your table. I dont know why music is always attached to my brain cells, when I was there, all I could think of was J’s “thats the way love goes”

Exclusive, thats how you feel. Although you semi-hear people/glasses and dishes somehow mingling from across the room – these sounds – barely have anything to do with you. You are in another room, another atmosphere. Figuratively and literally speaking.

You feel exclusive because you are in a secluded room while all the heat – boys and girls out there – are looking down on you from above – in a good way though. They want your place.

Its beautiful how deep the seats are. Its like your’s sheltered/away/taken from what’s out there, finally having the time to really sit down and honestly focus on whats infront of you.

In my humble opinion, I kept wondering, why would there be a Red-Indian Chief up there on the wall ? What is the purpose ? My friends went with an artistic view, they think an indian chief represents heritage. I disagree, I thought his presence is soulful – thats how the food was – full of escapism and thats how it should be. A huge part of visiting any joint revolves around a “lets get away from it all” perspective. Thats how I see it. Most importantly, thats how I felt.

Dress Code

You know how some places flame popularity for a while then die down ? Slider Station is the exact opposite. I like to call it THE HOOK UP.
Now don’t get me wrong, its just filled with heated madness when people are in question.
Since food is affordable by all, you’ll see folks from all walks of life with maybe a hint of maturity.

Ladies were very los-angeles/laid-back/let me look at you for a while shades/independent/Destiny’s Child “I don’t think your ready for this jelly” trainings/”I know you but way3a don’t say hii” attitude to each other – see I loved that. I love to see that happening from a distance.

Boys are much calmer, their eyes speak/take orders and focus, then double focus on objects that are not necessarily food items, yet edible.

Some lads act all stubborn, they cant handle the heat, that hair flip and definitely those shoes. They drown in their blackberries trying to find a contact to talk to just to destress – hell – some come with panadol extras shoved in their cars – heart ache heart ache heart ache – diktoor 3alijnee mess.

On a serious note, go casual smart. Thats what most people go by.

Food

Starters

Flat Bread

Phuket Salad

Shooting Stars

Bacon Wrapped Shrims

Southern Fried Chicken

Veal Rosti

Main dishes

Dinamite Hot Dogs

Bangkok On Fire

Purple Gnocchi

Red Spaghetti

The American

P0ach’s Favorite startes:

- Flat Bread, we all loved it.

- Phuket Salad, one of the best most unique tastes that graced my tongue. SPICY.

- Veal Rosti, I told Mr.Rahoul to keep it next to me, never ever take it away from me, EVER ! LOVED IT !

P0ach’s Favorite Main Dishes:

- Bangkok On Fire. *sigh* – What can I say ? Grilled, spicy, tender with a hint of coconut splashed on the side, why ?? why do you do this to me ? why ? Do you think I have no feelings ? not human ? why ? i just ,, I just cant ,, I  .. i

Red Spaghetti – My friends loved it and thought its the highlight of all the dishes. Not my case, however, variety is beautiful.

The American, this burger is delicious. It has a southern, home-made feel to it, juicy patty, gracious fresh toppings, perfect just perfect. I wonder how it’ll be like if it went low carb. HEAVENLY.

Dessert

C.M.P Monday

Fondue Pops

Oreo Crusted Molten

Red Velvet Pancake

Doughnut Holes

Nutella Souffle

P0ach’s Favorite Desserts:

Fondue Pops – I love how this piece was displayed, uber artistic and people, it has GOLD in it. Dip the pops in coco, you’ll never know what’s in there, sometimes its Mango, Strawberries, keep guessing, my favorite so far is the WHITE CHOCOLATE POP with GOLD on top.

Oreo Crusted Molten – PERFECT.

Red Velvet Pancake – My friends loved this dish the most, they were fighting over the last piece till I interfered and ate the last bit. Now you know what happened – all hell rose up – Then again, We were all high after that sky rocket sugar intake, our brains, bodies and laughs were so high we didnt even mind doing a bit of this

Overall

We all had a beautiful experience. We ran away from reality to another world for a while. The atmosphere was all I needed to shift my mind set off of work and cluttered material in me.

The joint, no doubt, a future hot spot with a beautiful success before it even officially opens, I know this because friends who were with me, all come from different backgrounds and for them to receive it as well as they did gives me a pretty good idea on how things will shape up here.

This place should be called the “Baby Maker” cuz thats what it does. Natural fertilizer, if the chocolate does not do it, the atmosphere does.

The TEAM

THANK YOU

You guys have been beyond generous, I have no words to describe your kind hospitality. Bless you all.
