Phenomenon: Space/Clutter

First thing I do when I reach the office is look at my table. I smile and start to de-clutter it, make less elements appear on the surface by either answering, approving, discussing or just dealing with whatever is there.
I make sure this process does not take more than 30 minutes.
Then, a new space appears. Its like my desk is ready to receive whatever is coming my way. Gladly.
Thats how I go about things in the office.

Through my studies, the books/texts iv read and people I met, I realized that those who are registered as “great” in the back of my mind were not totally but somehow disconnected from humans/society/unnecessary chatter and opinionated folks.

A great woman once told me “Seclusion is success”.

I was too young back then, I asked her what do you mean ? “Well, everybody has light within them, that light is kindness, creativity, patience and if you are blessed, a spiritual light. Things and people around you attract stories/events that are plain unnecessary, that, dims your light and takes away your focus from whats meaningful to meaningless” she replied.
Ofcourse im paraphrasing, she said it way better than what I typed.

Then, it hit me. I took what she said and applied it on those who are great universally. I went back to the classic stories of Moses, Noah & Mohammed peace be upon them all.
I realized that all of them were to and for the people but had a big gap of time to seclude/alienate themselves, stay alone, pray and meditate.

For example; Mohammad was very keen on making prayer sessions moderately light and easy since the audience includes children (unaware/bored) and the elderly (unable/weak).

However, when he’s alone, he takes long long hours to himself dedicated to prayer, silence, ease of mind. He even said it to one of his followers, Billal, when prayer time came, he said “Bilal, call for prayer, ease us with prayer” and then I thought why “ease us” ?

Thats how and where I GOT IT !

Prayer is made to de-clutter/make space/ease you out of the never ending daily routine that hits you in the face every single day. Work/School/Parents/Husband-Wife/Boy-Girl/Friends/Problems/Money/Gossip/Society/Un-awakened needs/Desire/Exams/Deadlines/Projects & People in general.

This is something I do when I pray. Made a huge change within, you can take it or leave it.

Sometimes, I get so excited/really high or a thing I prayed for happens. I go to my room and clear my mind of whatever is in it. WHAT-EVER is inside that brain of mine, I clear it, I shove it out. Then I pray. Its nothing religious though, its very spiritual so yeah even you the cool kids can do it.

When I do, I don’t look at the time or think I have to do something else, I just do it and drown everything that contains me in it.

I enter the mode of silence, my brain is at ease and im ready. The moment I reach the first words of Surat Al Hamd, I cry. Its nothing dramatic, its a sense of gratitude that wraps you. Then you are not Abdullah/Ahmad/Norah/Mariam anymore, you are unnamed and just grateful, in a state of bliss. You want nothing to do with anyone, you forgive and forget everything.

This is where I am aware of what Im doing and the words im saying. When the verses end, I don’t immediately transmit myself to the next position, I just stay silent, take lots of deep breaths, allow that gratitude/energy to stay with me for as long as possible and I keep repeating that till prayer is done.

Another example:

Women tend to have closets that scream EMPTY ME/De-Clutter ME/HELP ME.
How can I say this ? well the closets look like a twister salad or fatosh because everything is everywhere. They wouldn’t know what’s new, what fits, what works well with them, I know your secret, you have Fat clothes, slim clothes, hair down clothes and some things we wont get into here and now, HAH! They dont see what they have so they tend to ignore whatever is there and BUY NEW CLOTHES !

Don’t believe me ? Check out the various links that talk about women being the leading force in pumping the whole wide world back from the latest money/market crisis. How did they do it though ? Shopping. Clothes and cosmetics to be specific.

Another things is the 10 Kilograms of makeup some women rock in the city of Kuwait burdens their beauty from coming out. I guess its insecurities that shoves them into hiding what they think is ugly with mountains of unnecessary clutter.

The hottest women I saw wore nothing but Kohl and semi-lipstick. All I could think of was “Marriage Marriage Marriage” *ahem* so not happening – *snap*

Moving ahead, sometimes, when you do your closet a favor, make it go on a diet by giving away some of what you have, you tend to see that item again on somebody else. For some reason, it looks better, HAWT and dare I say it, fierce! You then wish you had it to make it go with this or that dress. You feel upset. Just incase you’re wondering why, know that the answer is very simple.

That thing you gave away, was burdened and unseen by you. It was literally drowned or drowning even more (depends how many layers you throw on top of it) in your closet. The grass is always greener on the other side or you don’t know what you got till its gone, thats what they say and AMEN to both.

Women can not help their fashion senses, they just go for it. I love them for that.

MEN are more simple. GOD bless the dishdasha.

Even apple’s latest operating system, Mac OS X snow leopard, offers a de-clutter your dashboard feature. They know how frustrating that is.

What am I trying to say here ?

Little is alot.

Give yourself a favor and try to alienate yourself from the cage you threw yourself into unwillingly. Enjoy the simple things that surround you. Don’t go that far, take this:

When you wake up in the morning, you find clean clothes, hot bath water and a breakfast that awaits you without any effort from your side. Those who work with you at home woke up before you did and got all this ready for you. Isn’t that pleasing ? Should you not be grateful at least ? Well it is to me and I appreciate it so much.

I hope this awakens you in a way or another.
