Nabeel VS Nabeel

Today, the boys at work went nuts over this comedic, in my opinion, debate.

Nabeel Al-Awadhi‘ Article.
Nabeel Al-AlFathil reply to Al-Awadhi.

I could not care less what either guy has to say to the other, honestly.

I need, however, your opinions on both takes, if you have the time.

I love how democratically involved Al-Watan Newspaper is, you see, both articles are from the same source.

Now Nabeel Alawadhi explained Liberalism in its whole definition . . . it might not be fully practiced in Kuwait but many Liberals believe in it and i know many who do . . . His writing was respectful and didnt attack some parties even though he mentioned a Liberal academic activist (Dr. Ibtehal Alkhateeb) but he didnt mention her by name!!

Now Nabeel Alfathil, was using extreme words to reply to Nabeel Alawadhi . . . using the term (elle7a almal3oona) triggered this thing in me and immediately i had this feeling that he has nothing to say and cant defend his party unless if he attacked those words . .

If you read both articles, you will notice that Alawadhi used LOGIC, but Alfathil used BAD MOUTHING and didnt come with a reasonable reply!!! and that only prove one thing . . .

The main FACT in here Kuwait is an Islamic country and follows esharee3a eleslameya . . . we cant change that and we WON’T . . . because without religion we will be living our lives like animals!

sorry for this long post :)

    According to Kuwaiti Constitution:

    Article 1 [Sovereignty, Territorial Integrity]
Kuwait is an Arab State, independent and fully sovereign. Neither its sovereignty nor any part of its territory may be relinquished. The people of Kuwait are a part of the Arab Nation.

    Article 2 [State Religion]
The religion of the State is Islam, and the Islamic Shari’a shall be a main source of legislation.

The reply to Nabeel Al-Awadhi’s article failed from the title alone, didn’t bother reading the article.

So Nabeel Al-Awadhi thinks Kuwaiti’s who are liberal or have liberal leanings would not object to a man marrying his sister or sleeping with his mother. So to him liberals think incest is ok but the only thing stopping them is societal norms. That is a ‘simple’ minded argument at best and what worries me more are the sheep agreeing with him in the Watan comment section…May ‘God’ help us all.

    Interesting discussion to raise, Abdullah!

Nabeel Al-Awadhi falsely presents liberalism, making it easier for him to refute! This is called “straw man” and isn’t a logical form of argument.

To say that liberals accept every act is like saying that all Salaf are terrorists and are willing to kill innocent children in the name of Islam.

Liberalism, in its essence, is based on the idea that every individual has a God-given brain, and should make his or her decisions on their own, instead of having others dictate how they should think and what they should do.

Morality is based on the freedom to choose. If you’re not choosing to be moral on your own, then you’re not being moral. You’re being a sheep.

During the early days of Islam the Muslims were being persecuted for their beliefs, and wanted the freedom to choose their own beliefs and live according to them. Now that the Muslims are the majority in several countries, they want to restrict freedom of choice and impose their own beliefs on people.

Sheikh Nabeel has his own understanding of Islam, and since the birth of Islam there have always been people who disagree on what their understanding of Islam is. I don’t see why he (or anyone) should dictate to others what the meaning of Islam is.

Regardless of both articles and how well written or not … people like Nabeel al Awadi and friends are not using democracy in its right sense and they want to force their ways of thinking which in my own opinion are unislamic (and all the verses they refer to in the Quran …directed at “liberals” … are in my belief directed at them) … our biggest problem is that we are calling them Islamist (well i don’t) … we are (enjamil) them … Being the positive person u are … you should STRONGLY fight against such thoughts … because being positive is not ignoring the wrong … but fighting it in a more +ve approach… (God, i keep repeating some terms i am losing my grammer :( )
