Sadly-to-say, but MLK wasn’t that wise as everyone believed. I’ve taken a Rhetoric class of Civil Right Movement and the whole thing was about understanding how MLK made it through due to others’ (mostly women) who pathed the way for freedom. Yes, African-American women were the ones who pathes his way and surprise surprise 80% of his famous speech are somehow quoted from previous religious figures and philosophers which is a common to do when it comes to persuasion and public speaking.

Now to the jumbo surprise – MLK is called Dr. Martin right? He obtained his PhD degree (from Harvard if am not mistaken) and guess what? He stole a former’s student dissertation and mixed it with his!!! The poor chair didn’t notice as well as the victimized student; simply-put he plagiarized and made up a dissertation & a repured degree from nothing!

Am not advocating that he was a bad leader, however sometimes history created incomplete realities of what really happened during such events or movements.

If you just read some of the narratives done by white and African Civil women during the movement, you can tell that MLK was the only who got the fame even though he didn’t do such a thing.

“History is merely a list of surprises. It can only prepare us to be surprised yet again.”
