World Famous: Sacher Cake

IMG_0277

I promised you some reviews from my european tour.

This babe/cake/tummy hugger, is a favorite amongst my family members, new to me however.

You know how kuwaitis love to name everything the way the want right ? They call this cake “Sakhar a.k.a stone”. Regardless of how the fellow smurfs of my lovely country call it, its a world famous cake known in two countries, Austria and Germany.

I ate this in Zell Am Se. Lemme tell you, its heavenly.

Whats in it ?

Its a choco cake, one of the layers has a strawberry jam smeared into it, another layer of dark choco, cream on the side, oh and for some strange reason, a french sweets spoon ? The combination makes women want to get married and boys loose it on the dance floor. Fair enough ?

Be the first to like.

Hmmm… it is a long story, but to make it short.. i thought when I frist met him an Egyptian messanger boy. I kicked him out of my office…and he was there to check me out ;ppp actually it has impressed him how direct I am.
Anyway, after a cousin introduced him to me, and we sat talking, he told me he was starting a business whihc involves food. I told him I loved to bake cakes and I was very good at it. He wanted to try some (he was joking) but I took it seriously and put my skills to work, and baked him a Sacher Torte, with apricot jam, by the way. A couple of days later he expressed his desire with a love poem which he wrote that he wants to marry me ;ppp
Actually there is more to it but that is a short version of story ;)

I had the Sacher Torte in the Sacher Hotel in Vienna, and it was amazing.

They’re so proud of this cake that they give you one when you first check-in to your room and when you check out.

Also it’s available in the breakfast menu.

You can never have enough of it.

One difference between the one you had and the original one is that it has apricot jam and not strawberry!
