People Worth Knowing: Mohammed Al-Bahar

MAB

Net Worth: 1.8 Billion.

Chairman of National Bank of Kuwait, the country’s oldest public company and one of the most consistent performers among region’s banks.

Also involved in industry: Al-Bahar’s eponymous construction group is the regional distributor for Caterpillar heavy construction equipment, which is in high demand in the Gulf.

Part of FORBES billionaires list.

He is well known for his humanitarian efforts also.

Here is what the people at HILALIYA had to say, (Highly respected blog) :

“Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar is a humble, low-key family man who literally built his fortune from scratch.

In contrast to others of his league, he is righteous and decent enough not to use his financial empire to monopolize or impede others from achieving commercial success. He made his fortune and is happy to let others do the same – this is an unusual trait in the modern Kuwaiti businessman.

He is one of the most transparent, and overall most decent businessmen in the Gulf, his generosity is always behind the scenes, never meant to attract any attention or exploited for business purposes (unlike the ‘New Tycoons’ in Kuwait).

He is literally one of a kind and represents the dying ‘Old Guard’ – men with principles, wisdom and
generosity who helped build this state.”

THANK YOU GUYS !

Oh some people are bitter. I guess jealousy does get the best of some.

He got to where he is because of his brains first and far most.

“Q” you’re entitled to your own opinion, true, but if you want to rely on facts, get them all together, don’t overlook some and post the ones that you think back up your cause.

  14. Abdulla says:

There is nothing wrong with people being billionaires, most of them got their thru hard work and dedication! And what People Worth Knowing does is that it highlights a person’s achievements and accomplishments, which at the same time show how the people of Kuwait are smart and hardworking like other people around the world…money is never mentioned once.

  15. QuestionQ8 says:

I for one, admire your “People worth Knowing” posts..
I feel really proud seeing what our country men have achieved. Be them rich or poor! And honestly what does money have to do with anything? They earned it, hatha 7alalhom!
And mashalla 9ij m7amad alba7ar is truly a clever business man, NBK is like the best middle eastern bank no?
    Keep it up, Abdulla! :)

    • Abdullah says:

First of all, I thank you for dropping by, breaking the silence and speaking whats on your mind.

I wish I had control over what people can/cant say, yet, I do share your vision, I have written something about a dear friend of mine about two weeks back, here is my view on the same issue your discussing.

      http://www.p0ach.com/2009/08/04/phenomenon-horseskarma/

Still, I might have applauded “some” readers just for the cause of “shutting up” the haters. Thats all.

So once again, I hope you read what I wrote on that post, have an open mind, and just realize that some people WANT to not CHANGE. o hatha shay mo7zin o jad i7iz bil kha6ir.

      THANK YOU !

I dont get why people are taking this personally !

Mishkila..a room full of light with a dark corner, you think they’de look at the whole picture ? 6AB3AN la’a.. they’d probably criticize the dark corner !

M7amad ilba7ar ? No can deny that this man is one of the smartest men around. wilni3im feeh :)

  25. eleventh.st says:

People need to chill! I don’t know why they look at the negative side of things, or try to prick and pry and something just to see what reaction they can get!

I believe that you write these posts to remind people of how with hard work, Kuwaitis can be successful and each their dreams. They are excellent because we live in an age where there is not a lot to be proud of in Kuwait in achievements!

il3am Mohammed Al-Bahar is a pillar in Kuwait society. Putting aside his business achievement, he gave so much back to the community that most people do not even realize! He has help build Kuwait, and put it on the map.
    Sorry for the long comment!

    • Abdullah says:

No need to be sorry, your presence is a gift to this blog.

I can do nothing but thank you for your kind words, courage and presence.

      More power to you !
