I have covered Miss Bibi Al-Sabah way back in the days of P2BK, here, she has been nothing but kind to me. I, asked her to snap pics and all, she said ” il mokan mokanik” I felt great, took my time, flashed my flashes and there you have it, a post.
Regardless, this time, I made something extra special for you guys, I asked a close friend of Bibi to make an introduction for you. His name is Abdullah Al-Mulaifi and he is a writer at Khalejesque.com, here’s what he had to say:
“We hear stories from all over the world of people who make their goals possible, follow their dreams and take small steps that lead to big opportunities. Bibi Al-Sabah is a girl from Kuwait that did just that; she and her cousin Al-Jowhara founded “Dessert”, a delightfully delicious home delivery dessert establishment that eventually lead to the creation of a beautifully designed and cozy coffee shop where people can enjoy home-made connotations like cakes and muffins to warm sandwiches and milkshakes. I myself am an avid Dessert-fanatic, having tasted almost all of their unique creations. With each scrumptious bite, i have no doubt it was made with love, which Bibi herself just oozes each time you see her. She’s such a wonderful soul and I am privileged to call her a close friend. Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready to meet an angel”
Alright then lets get to the bottom of this, interview time:
So Bibi introduce yourself to everyone !
Well, my name is Bibi Al-Sabah, JUST turned 23, studying in the American University of Kuwait majoring in Advertising and Public Relations. My major interests are music, art, traveling, reading (cooking books) and mostly baking. I have always loved to enter the kitchen since i was a child. Loved the way how i used to crowd in all the ingredients and make a huge mess while breathing the smell of baked cookies in the oven. This just makes me smile.

Your childhood, how was it ?
I have always been a shy person, it was hard for me to blend in with people and socialize. Ever since me and Aljawhara Al-Sabah (my partner & dearest cousin) decided to go through opening a ‘Dessert’ place it changed my life and me as a person. I have always depended on my parents in mostly everything but having my own business changed a lot. DeSsert helped me grow as a person, it gave me courage, power, challenge and success. DeSsert is the main reason for making me smile everyday.

What inspired you to open up this shop ?
I have always wanted to own a dessert bakery but i had no idea where to begin. I used to bake at home and try different recipes just for fun and ending up sending them to my friends and family. The best part is when I got their feedbacks! “AMAZING” or “Did you bake it yourself?”.. This inspired me. I’ve always been surrounded by friends and family who loves me and supports me in every thing i do, mostly my dad. How did it happen? studying was my main issue, it didn’t give me the chance to do anything and as i mentioned i didn’t know where to start so i just happen to forget about baking and focusing on what i am studying until one day Aljawhara called me “Are you still thinking of opening a dessert place?” and it began…

What differs you from other competitors ?
DeSsert owns a team with full of spirit and passion towards desserts. DeSsert was established in August 2007, was operated online for 1 year to test the Kuwaiti market demand for homemade gourmet baked goods. A year from the establishment of the company, Dessert Coffee House came to life, the first physical branch of the company located in the heart of Kuwait city. Dessert Coffee House’s atmosphere was designed in a modern eastern look, bringing together the culture of Kuwait and the western gourmet dishes and drinks. Since Dessert was first brought to life in 2007, our first interest was the quality of the international ingredients used to create Dessert’s fusion menu that combines both western and eastern desserts to create our own innovative desserts that can only be found at Dessert. Being one of the first stores that supplied the Kuwaiti market with cupcakes, our specialized products are cupcakes that come in more than 20 flavors, from the original western Red Velvet cupcake to the innovative Eastern Kanafa cupcake.

I understand that there is an event your participating in, yes ?
Oh yes, were participating in the “GET TOGETHER EXPO”, more info here.

More on family and friends perhaps ?
I have always been taught by my parents to share my achievements and support others for achieving their goals. To my family, you did what you had to do and more, you’ve always been by my side. To my dearest Baba Bander, who tasted every depressing recipe i did till i got better and made it through. To my beloved one, I would never have done it without you! To Lulu Al-Bader, the true friend that gave me hope! and finally Aljawhara Al-Sabah you made my dream come true. Having these people around gives me more power to work hard. THANK YOU!
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now ?
Expanding and having 1 or 2 more branches of DeSsert.

Throw something for p0ach readers will you ?
First of all, I would like to thank GOD for DeSsert’s success and for providing me the strength to continue… I would like to thank you Abdullah for giving me and others the chance to be part f your blog. It’s an honor! Finally, to P0ach readers, believe in yourself! follow your dreams no matter what it takes. give yourself a chance and never give up.
***ATTENTION POEPLE!!***
In the meantime we are working on Customized Ramadan boxes (will be posted in the website in 2 weeks) and after ramadan
DeSsert will be celebrating its FIRST ANNIVERSARY!!!!

I have known BIBI for my whole life, and I have never seen her glow the way she is glowing until dessert opened, I saw excitement, passion , and love coming from the way she talks about Dessert . I am a food lover…and I have tried desserts in the best restaurants around the world…but then I always compare the desserts I have with the desserts from DESSERT….Although I live in the U.A.E i call Bibi sometimes wishing she could send me a RED VELVET by ARAMEX, but then I only get a giggle from BIBI. I am looking forward to graduate …come back and have my tea time at DESSERT COFFEE HOUSE !

Bibi is a dear friend of mine and has a truly beautiful heart and self. Itis an honour to have her in my lifen and, being from London, if she expanded here it would be incredible. Mabrook on the success, 7abibti, and a7ebech wayed. You are a very special friend and I love ya! Xoxoxoxoxoxo
I am privileged to have tasted their sweets, and they are DELICIOUS. There are a tremendous amount of bakery shops, whether online, or by phone, here in Kuwait lately, but DeSserts is all kinds of delicious.
My favorite remains their velvet cake, its deliciousness is beyond words.
Nice interview, Abdulla! Thanks again for yet another amazing and inspiring interview. I, for one, highly recommend Dessert cupcakes. Not only are they delicious, but they’re made with love! The red velvet cupacakes are the BEST! I’m not just saying this because I’m trying to suck up, bas sij walla they’re amazing oo allah ywafgeha ihya oo Johwara inshallah. Walla kil yoom nafs il salfa oo agool bacher abdee my diet wilsiba il red velvet cupcakes. They’re that good. Good luck, Bibi! Hope to see you expand – You certainly have the potential!
I am very lucky to be a friend of Bibi’s. She has a beautiful self and is an incredible person. Mabrook on the success of Dessert! She deserves all the success she has and all the support. I wish Dessert was here in London, as it would be the place I’d go all the time. Bibi, a7ebech xoxoxox
Being a friend, a business associate and a colleague.
This person deserves all the best in her career, and her idea of Dessert, though already been around, yet she find her own way of making it unique. The ridiculously funny and tasty recipe, makes Dessert a frequent store to be visited, never can you get bored of the Brownie Cheesecake, which to me is heaven made into a cake.
Great exposure Abdullah, you have your way with words that motivates your readers very fast “Mashallah”.
I wish Bibi all the best because she deserves it.
A.C.
business associate HUH? you did you do exactly
Amazing interview… keep it up!
“Ya 7ilo inta ya red velvet”
THANK YOU GUYS FOR SUPPORTING BiBi, SHE DESERVES IT ;D
Nothing but the best from Bebo and Juju! Two of the sweetest girls baking Kuwait the sweetest desserts!
Not only is the food delicious, the whole atmosphere of the place is perfect for catching up with friends. I’ve been there countless times with friends to spend the afternoon sipping my white mocha and indulging in the ever-so-famous red velvet cupcake!
To top it all off, the two role-models are perfect examples of how young Kuwaitis should set goals and work hard towards achieving success!
Congratulations Bebo, keep it up!
This is a great interview; I think that there is nothing left for me to say about Bibi as the previous comments said it all. Bibi, you’re a great person from the inside and out and I honestly think that you are the perfect example that young people should follow to learn how to achieve their goals. I’m so proud of you and I’m so happy for “Dessert’s” success.
I’ve been to Dessert Coffee House several times and honestly, I loved everything about it. The food is great, as well as the comforting atmoshphere that is suitable for gatherings and catching up with friends. I think that ‘Dessert’ is the kind of place that you’ll fall in love with from your first visit.
