I have been invited yesterday to go to a private screening for “The Journey to Mecca” at Kuwait’s Scientific centre.
“Privileged” is what I am.
No spoilers I promise. People always say ” jaw dropping ” without really meaning it. I MEAN IT and im gonna spell it for you J.A.W D.R.O.P.P.I.N.G excellence !!! I was watching it and kept saying things like ” YES YES YES YES YES !!! FINALLY!! FINALLY !! ” , finally a very close image to how and what I wanted arabs to be represented. I thought I knew everything i needed to know about Ibn Battuta. NOT! Learned alot about this wonderful fellow traveler in the most advanced features ever.
I loved Mr.Mijbil Al-Mutawa’s (Scientific Centre Chairman) speech, which was an intro about the project, about the people who got involved all in arabic, and then he said this ” ROLL THE FILM ” I felt like I was in broadway (never been there before, TV shows exposure) LOL.
So about the movie, the scenes were breath taking, the narration was excellent, the plot, the costumes, the language, sequence and the goose bumps were my personal assurance that YES I felt it. The way people pray together, chant together combined with the scenery makes you a bit teary eyed. There is a presence, there is power, there is silence. I enjoyed every bit of it, from start to end.
The movie is an iMAX featured film. What is iMax ? Well, I hardly remember what the computerized lady said before the movie started. Well, its the best thing my eyes have seen! The highest quality of video I have been exposed to ever. specially with me not being to any iMax movie before. The experience was “IT” for me, I did not want it to stop. Wished I had a better seat, but eventually didnt care, cuz it was perfect from each and every angle.
A big round of applause to all the KUWAITI CREW WHO WERE PART OF THIS !! WE ARE ALL PROUD OF YOU !!!

P.S: Saw somebody who made my day, my brain, and overall feel good elements better. Literally.

I watched it at the premiere in Kuwait as well and I too think it was incredible, amazing, breath-taking.
Thanks to your blog and others, the film gets promoted and recognized among us younger crowds and i’m sure the movie producers and all parties involved in the making of the film truly appreciate it.
